Vaikobi Partners with the Australian team selected to compete at the ICF Ocean Racing World Championship in Portugal

Vaikobi has announced a Partnership with the 25 strong members of the Australian Team who has been selected to compete at the ICF Ocean Racing World Championship, to be held in Portugal in July.

The Team will be captained by Jim Walker and will have Vaikobi's very own Tim Jacobs heading up the squad in the open's, who will be gunning for the World title against a strong international field. Also representing Australia in the opens is Greg Tobin, Cory Hill, Sam Norton and Mark Andersen.

Strong competition is expected from the South Africans with  Sean Rice & Chalupsky brothers heading the charge.

In the womens, Australia will be represented by Hannah Minogue ( Opens), Bridgett Litte (U/23's), Jamie Brinkworth (junior) and Julie Jenkinson in the Masters.

The Australian team will be competing in Vaikobi's V Heat range in Portugal to ensure optimum performance in the conditions which are expected to be challenging  over the 3 day event.

Fantastic Launch Held at the Middle Harbour Challenge

Vaikobi enjoyed a fantastic launch on Saturday April 27th at the Middle Harbour Challenge, held at Middle Harbour Yacht Club.
The full Vaikobi range was on hand for paddlers to view and the feedback was fantastic with many orders placed ahead of our stock being available on May 8th from Ocean Paddler, Pro Kayaks and www.vaikobi.com
The event also raised money for Sunnyfield and there was a great crew there cheering on the paddlers.
Suzie Rhydderch was our lucky winner of the Vaikobi Winter paddling pack, which includes a V Cold Paddling Pant, V Cold S/S Top and V Cold warm up sleeves. Suzie was all smiles and is ready to train through winter!
On the water, 105 paddlers faced the starters horn and Dean Gardiner and Mark Anderson were quick out of the blocks to take out the Ski doubles, whilst Vaikobi's very own Tim Jacobs enjoyed a victory in the Ski singles over the 17km course.
Special mention to Dave Coward who placed 5th after getting pipped by Tommy Woodriff on the line.
John Nicotra took out the Single Ski 7km short course race, whilst in the competitive SUP division, Mark Rennie took out the Mens, whilst Tammy Montgomery took out the womens.
It was great to have the SUP guys there and look forward to seeing more of them at future events.
Vaikobi will be at the next Harbour Series event on May 11th at Pittwater as well as Blast time trial events over the coming months. For more updates, stay tuned to www.vaikobi.com

Tim Jacobs & Murray Stewart join Vaikobi Team

Vaikobi is extremely excited to announce that two of the worlds best ocean ski paddlers, Tim Jacobs and Murray Stewart, have officially joined the Vaikobi team.
 
Both Tim and Murray have been instrumental in the product development of the Vaikobi range over the past twelve months and as the brand is now officially launching, it is extremely exciting to have these two paddlers become ambassadors for the Vaikobi brand within the sport of paddling.
 
Tim is considered one of the worlds best Ocean Ski paddlers and is a six times winner of the iconic 20 beaches race as well has being a two time winner of the Dragon Run in Hong Kong amongst many other international victories. Tim is presently a New South Wales Institute of Sport Kayak Coach and coached a group of Australia’s best paddlers in the successful London 2012 Olympics campaign. He has also held the role of Head Coach at Freshwater Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
 
Pat Langley from Vaikobi commented that "Tim has been instrumental in the development of the Vaikobi range from day one with a strong eye for detail on what makes a difference to your performance when on the water. To have Tim's advice in developing our product both now and in the future, is invaluable for our brand, which seeks to create the worlds best ocean paddling range available in the market".
 
Murray Stewart is Vaikobi's Olympic Gold Medalist, after securing victory in the Australian K4 team at the London Olympic games. Murray also competes in the K1 & K2 divisions and is the current Australian champion in both the K2 & K4 1000.
 
Away from the water, Stewart is also a successful academic having graduated from his Masters of Architecture at the University of Sydney in early 2012 where he had been a recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s scholarship for academic and sporting success.
 
Like the majority of Australia’s sprint paddlers, Stewart got into the sport from surf lifesaving. In 2009, he won the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships – the win was the first for his club Manly since 1948.

Vaikobi Set to Launch at the Middle Harbour Challenge- April 27th

Vaikobi will officially launch the brand and the exciting new PaddleSport range of on water clothing at the forthcoming Middle Harbour Surfski Challenge hosted by Middle Harbour YC on April 27th.
 
This is the last event for the 2012-2013 Harbour series, which has proven to be extremely popular.
 
The Vaikobi Paddlesport range will be available on the day and Vaikobi will be supplying some great prizes for competitors, so be sure to come along for what is going to be a great event.
 
There will be 7.5km and 15km courses as per all Surf Ski Australia Harbour series events.
