Vaikobi announces two season sponsorship of the Ocean Series

With the summer racing season in Australia just around the corner, Vaikobi is proud to announce a fantastic new sponsorship of the 2013 Ocean Series, hosted by Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches.

Run over six races, the 2013 Ocean Series starts with the Rocks to Reef Race on September 14 and culminates with the iconic 20 Beaches Ocean Classic on December 14.
It is expected that the event this year will attract a record number of competitors and the Stand Up Paddleboard division is going from strength to strength.

As part of the sponsorship, Vaikobi will be supplying all competitors with SLS approved high visibility competitor vests to ensure that the safety team can keep track of all competitors on the water.

Pat Langley, from Vaikobi, said: "The Ocean Series is an iconic group of races here in Sydney and we are very proud to be part of the series over the next two years. Since Vaikobi launched earlier this year, we have been thrilled with the positive reaction to the performance of our products and we are looking forward to seeing a record field of Ocean Paddlers competing on Ski's, SUPs and OC's racing in Vaikobi this summer."

Steve McInnes, Chief Executive Officer of Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches, is delighted with Vaikobi's sponsorship of the 2013 and 2014 Ocean Series.
He said: “This is the first time Vaikobi has been involved and it is fantastic to have them on board. Pat [Langley] has paddled in the Series before so he knows just what a wonderful event it is and just how popular it has become. It is also terrific that we can display the Vaikobi name on the Oceanseries vests that they will produce for us as part of the sponsorship agreement.’’

The 2013 Ocean Series will host divisions for Ocean Ski's, Spec SLSA Skis, SUP's and OC1's and the courses vary from event to event with a mixture of circuit and downwind courses.

Rd 1: Rocks to Reef - Dee Why, Saturday 14th September
Rd 2: King of the Reef - Long Reef, Saturday 28th September
Rd 3: Bondi to Rose Bay - Bondi, Saturday 19th October
Rd 4: Narrabeen Downwind - Narrabeen Beach, Saturday 2nd November Rd 5: Queenscliff Challenge - TBC, Saturday 30th November
Rd 6: The 20 Beach Ocean Classic - Saturday 14th December
